Easy Hamburger Potato Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3–4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter (optional for greasing the pan)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven:
    • Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the ground beef:
    • In a skillet, cook the ground beef and diced onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and fully cooked. Season with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Prepare the sauce:
    • In a bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth.
  4. Layer the casserole:
    • Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with olive oil or butter.
    • Spread a layer of potato slices on the bottom of the dish.
    • Add a layer of the cooked ground beef mixture.
    • Pour a portion of the soup mixture over the beef.
    • Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ending with potatoes on top.
  5. Bake:
    • Cover the casserole with aluminum foil and bake for 50–60 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender.
  6. Add cheese:
    • Remove the foil, sprinkle shredded cheese on top, and return to the oven for 10–15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Serve:
    • Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving. Pair with a fresh salad or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
