Pepperoni Sausage Pizza Recipe

Ingredients

For the Dough (or use store-bought)

  • 2 ½ cups (315g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) instant yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¾ cup (180ml) warm water (110°F/43°C)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

For the Sauce

  • 1 cup (240ml) tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Toppings

  • 2 cups (200g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 oz (115g) pepperoni slices
  • 4 oz (115g) cooked Italian sausage (crumbled)
  • ½ cup (50g) shredded Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Red pepper flakes and fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Dough:

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. Add warm water and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

2. Make the Sauce:

  1. In a small saucepan, combine tomato sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Simmer over low heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and set aside.

3. Preheat the Oven:

  1. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.

4. Assemble the Pizza:

  1. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness (12–14 inches). Transfer to a sheet of parchment paper for easy handling.
  2. Spread the prepared sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a ½-inch border around the edges.
  3. Sprinkle half the mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
  4. Add the pepperoni slices and cooked sausage crumbles evenly over the pizza.
  5. Top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

5. Bake the Pizza:

  1. Carefully slide the parchment paper with the pizza onto the hot pizza stone or baking sheet.
  2. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.

6. Garnish and Serve:

  1. Remove from the oven and let the pizza cool for 2–3 minutes.
  2. Garnish with red pepper flakes and fresh basil if desired. Slice and serve hot!
