Pepperoni Sausage Pizza Recipe
Ingredients
For the Dough (or use store-bought)
- 2 ½ cups (315g) all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) instant yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- ¾ cup (180ml) warm water (110°F/43°C)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
For the Sauce
- 1 cup (240ml) tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Toppings
- 2 cups (200g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 oz (115g) pepperoni slices
- 4 oz (115g) cooked Italian sausage (crumbled)
- ½ cup (50g) shredded Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Red pepper flakes and fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Dough:
- In a large bowl, mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
- Add warm water and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
2. Make the Sauce:
- In a small saucepan, combine tomato sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer over low heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and set aside.
3. Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.
4. Assemble the Pizza:
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness (12–14 inches). Transfer to a sheet of parchment paper for easy handling.
- Spread the prepared sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a ½-inch border around the edges.
- Sprinkle half the mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
- Add the pepperoni slices and cooked sausage crumbles evenly over the pizza.
- Top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
5. Bake the Pizza:
- Carefully slide the parchment paper with the pizza onto the hot pizza stone or baking sheet.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
6. Garnish and Serve:
- Remove from the oven and let the pizza cool for 2–3 minutes.
- Garnish with red pepper flakes and fresh basil if desired. Slice and serve hot!
