Ingredients:

  • 1 lb thinly sliced steak (like ribeye) or ground beef
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 6 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups cooked pasta (optional, like penne or egg noodles)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the Steak or Beef
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced steak or ground beef and cook until browned. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Remove and set aside.
  3. Sauté the Vegetables
In the same skillet, heat the remaining olive oil. Add the bell peppers, onion, and mushrooms (if using). Sauté until tender, about 5–7 minutes.
  4. Combine Meat and Vegetables
Return the cooked steak or beef to the skillet and mix with the sautéed vegetables.
  5. Make the Cheese Sauce
In a bowl, combine the cream cheese and heavy cream until smooth. Stir in half of the provolone (or mozzarella) and cheddar cheese.
  6. Assemble the Casserole
    • If using pasta, mix it into the meat and vegetable mixture.
    • Spread the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
    • Pour the cheese sauce over the top, spreading it evenly.
    • Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheese on top.
  7. Add Optional Breadcrumb Topping
Mix the breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the casserole for added crunch.
  8. Bake
Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Tips:

  • Swap beef with chicken or turkey for a twist.
  • Add a drizzle of Worcestershire sauce for extra savory flavor.
  • Serve with garlic bread or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
