Ingredients:

For the Marinade:

  • 1 pound flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

For the Stir-Fry:

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger (optional)

For the Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup beef broth or water
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (mixed with 2 teaspoons water)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (adjust to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the beef:
    • In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil. Add the sliced beef and toss to coat. Let it marinate for at least 20 minutes.
  2. Prepare the sauce:
    • In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, beef broth, and black pepper. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and set aside.
  3. Cook the beef:
    • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the beef in a single layer and sear for 1โ€“2 minutes per side until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Stir-fry vegetables:
    • In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil. Stir-fry the bell peppers and onions for 2โ€“3 minutes, until theyโ€™re slightly softened but still crisp. Add the garlic and ginger, cooking for another 30 seconds.
  5. Combine and cook:
    • Return the beef to the skillet. Pour in the prepared sauce and toss everything together. Cook for 2โ€“3 minutes, until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and vegetables.
